Dom Giordano Biography
America’s First Teacher-turned-Talk Show Host
For nearly 15 years, Dom
Giordano has been one of the Philadelphia region’s most popular and
respected talk show hosts. In his broadcasting career, Dom has
interviewed the leading public figures and newsmakers in the country,
including Jay Leno, Vice President Dick Cheyney, presidential adviser
Dick Morris, Director Rob Reiner, football coaching legend Joe Paterno,
and former presidents Jimmy Carter and George Bush, to name a few.
Covering a wide variety of topics and issues, Dom blends his
common-sense philosophy with an enjoyable listening style to create a
show that’s always informative, enlightening, and thought-provoking.
Dom began his unique path
to broadcasting as an elementary school and high school teacher in
school districts throughout Philadelphia and South Jersey, where he
received extensive local and national media coverage for his innovative
teaching and motivational techniques with his students.
After becoming a frequent guest on talk shows and news programs
for his education expertise, Giordano was hired at WWDB Radio in 1987,
becoming the country’s first teacher-turned-talk show host at a major
broadcast market. After a successful career at WWDB, Dom joined WPHT
Radio (1210 AM) in 2000.
In addition to his radio
show, Dom enjoys extensive visibility and success in television and
print mediums. He provides weekly parenting tips and education
commentary for NBC-10 News. Dom is also a frequent guest commentator on
MSNBC, the Fox News Channel, CNN’s Talkback Live, Court TV, Comcast
Cable’s It’s Your Call,
and WHYY-TV 12 News. He has also been interviewed on C-SPAN, the British
Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Sunday Live on WPVI-TV 6, and numerous
newscasts and public affairs programs. Dom writes frequent columns for
newspapers throughout the region, including The Philadelphia Inquirer,
The Trentonian, The Bucks County Courier Times, The Main Line Times, and
The Northeast Times. Dom’s educational expertise will reach a national
audience when his first book, Common
Sense Parenting, is published by Free Reign Press in late 2003.
In 1995, Dom became the
first Philadelphia broadcaster to be named one of the Top 100 Most Influential Talk Show Hosts in America by Talkers
Magazine, the leading trade publication of the talk radio
industry. Dom has been selected for the national “Top 100” list four
additional times in 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999.
Dom graduated from
LaSalle University with a degree in education and earned a Masters
Degree in Education from Antioch University. He also attended Rutgers
University Law School from 1979 to 1982.
Dom and his wife Rosemary, also a teacher, reside
in Philadelphia with their two sons, Luke and DJ.
